Travel advisory issued for passengers traveling from Istanbul

ISTANBUL: If you’re flying from Turkey’s Istanbul airport, then you must read this advisory note.

Turkish Airlines has issued an alert for passengers due to heavy snowstorm in Istanbul.

The airline advised travelers to check status of their flight prior to come to the airport.

“Due to heavy snow in Istanbul, we kindly ask you to check the latest status of your flights on the 8th and 9th of January on our website,” the airline tweeted.

With regard to domestic flights, the airline said: “All our domestic flights are being conducted within the operational limits in all our airports with  the exception of departure flights from Istanbul Ataturk Airport.”

Even those passengers flying with other airlines from Istanbul should also check status of their flights prior to heading towards the airport.

The airline on Saturday said that for the individual and group passengers who have bookings on the Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet flights from/to Istanbul Ataturk Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport and transit flights between 06/01/2017 – 09/01/2017 and ticketed on/before 08/01/2017 , will be handled with following conditions, disregarding the related fare rules :

1) Rebooking and rerouting will be made without any charge for different booking classes only if the new destination is at the same IATA region and at the same cabin for the TK operating flights departing until 18/01/2017 (Including) providing that the tickets are revalidated until 15/01/2017 only for the TK operating flights departing until 18/01/2017 (Including). rerouting and rebooking to the flights later than 18/01/2017 wıll be made according to the (original) fare rules. rebooking and rerouting on ınterline flights where TK is the marketing carrier will be made according to the (original) fare rules.

2) Refund Requests :

a)Unused Ticket : refund will be made without any charge providing that tickets are refunded until 06/02/2017 (Including). Interline flights where TK is the marketing carrier are included.

  1. b) Used Ticket: refund will be made considering as involuntary. Interline flights where TK is the marketing carrier are included.

3) Extension of Validity:

Validity of ticket can be extended until 15/01/2017 without any fare difference or penalty.

4) Rebooking/Rerouting of group reservations for which payment or guarantee MCI is received will be made disregarding applyıng penaltıes of existing fare rules.
