DUBAI: Emirates, the world’s largest long-haul carrier, has been rated the best full service airline for 2016 and also achieving top ranking in sub-categories.
According to the UK-based e-Dreams, Dubai’s carrier was rated the best in the category of most modern, most comfortable, in-flight service, in-flight entertainment, check-in service and value for money sub-categories. It was rated third in best airline VIP lounges category.
On Thursday, Emirates launched an additional privilege to extend the usage of its luxury lounges at Dubai International Airport to its Loyalty Programme members and their guests at a minimal fee regardless of their class of travel.
The pay-per-visit access will be available to Emirates Skywards members and their guests travelling on Emirates. Business Class travellers now also have the option to pay an upgrade fee to access the First Class lounges.
Dubai carrier was among the host of other major global airlines which were hit by the American President Donald Trump’s ban on immigrants entering into the US.
Emirates had to changed pilot and flight attendant rosters on flights to the United States last week following the sudden US travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries.
Among the top 15 full service airlines, Luxembourg-based Luxair was ranked second followed by Aegean, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines, Turkish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Tap Portugal, Austrian Airlines, Alitalia, Air France, HOP!, Scandinavian Airlines and British Airways.
