JAKARTA: A drunk pilot has been sacked and arrested after getting onboard an aircraft for takeoff at an Indonesian airport.
A video uploaded on YouTube showed the drunk pilot Tekad Purna of Citilink – an Indonesian budget airline – walked through the scanner and then manual search by the airport security personnel. Following that he headed towards the scanning machines to collect his belongings. The airport security personnel then realized that the pilot was drunk because he was wobbling and was not able to stand on his feet.
Due to his unstable condition, the pilot dropped one thing or the other during the brief questioning by the airport security personnel.
Media reports claimed that the pilot stumbled his way to the cockpit but when the passengers heard his mumble, they refused to fly and other cancelled their flight.
Citilink President Director Albert Burhan also announced Friday that he and the production director would resign over the impropriety. Citilink is a subsidiary of national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia.
